Privacy policy
What this site collects, what it deliberately does not, and how to ask for any of it back or removed.
Last updated
This policy describes what happens to information when you use Discounts Corner. It is written to describe what the site actually does rather than to cover every possibility, and it is updated when the site changes.
There are no accounts
You cannot register on this site and there is nothing to sign in to. Nothing you do here is tied to a named person.
What we store
Clicks and code reveals
When a code is revealed or a link to a retailer is followed, we record that it happened, which offer it was for, and the date. To tell one visitor's actions apart from another's within a single day, we store a one-way hash built from the IP address, the browser's user-agent string, that day's date and a secret key.
The IP address and the user-agent are never written down. Only the hash is, it cannot be reversed to recover either, and because the date is part of it the same visitor produces a different hash tomorrow. It is useful for counting and worthless for identifying anyone.
Deal alerts
If you sign up for deal alerts we store the email address you give us and where on the site you signed up. Nothing else. It is used to send you offers and for no other purpose, it is never sold or passed on, and every email carries a link that removes it.
The contact form
If you write to us we keep the name, email address and message you sent, so that we can reply and so we can see whether a problem has come up before. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time.
Saved codes
Codes you save are stored by your own browser, on your own device, under
the key klip:saved. They are never sent to us and we cannot
see them. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-LT83JCEBTX) to
see which pages are read and roughly where readers come from. Google sets
its own identifiers through this and acts as a separate controller of that
data under its own terms; what it collects and how to opt out are described
in
Google's
privacy policy, and the
Google
Analytics opt-out add-on blocks it across every site that uses it.
Affiliate tracking
Links to retailers pass through an affiliate network, principally CJ Affiliate. The network sets its own cookie in your browser so the retailer knows the visit came from us and can pay the commission. That cookie is set by the network, not by us, is governed by the network's own privacy policy, and typically records that a referral happened rather than who you are.
What this site does not do
- It sets no advertising cookies and carries no ad network.
- It does not sell, rent or trade anything it holds, to anyone.
- It does not build a profile of you across sites.
- It does not store IP addresses or user-agent strings.
How long things are kept
Click and reveal records are kept as aggregate counts, which are not linked to anybody. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for removal. Contact messages are kept while they are useful for answering you and reviewing recurring problems.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will do it. Because there are no accounts, in practice this means the email address you subscribed with or any message you sent us. Write to us through the contact page and say what you would like removed.
Children
This site is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
When the site changes what it collects, this page changes with it.
